EmergenceMed, LLC is a startup company and a spin-off from UT Health San Antonio, and UTSA. EmergenceMed has a focus in airway securement and innovation technologies including suction devices.
Dr. Rob De Lorenzo, MD
Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer
35+ years of experience practicing emergency medicine. A retired combat medical officer, and board certified in emergency medicine and fellowship trained in EMS/prehospital care and research. His focus is on airway medical device research and development and his experience includes several DoD-funded clinical trials and serves as an emergency medicine subject matter expert for the DoD.
Dr. R. Lyle Hood, Ph.D.
Co-Founder & Chief Technology Officer
Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Texas at San Antonio. He has published more than 10 manuscripts and patents on the design, prototyping, characterization, and field analysis for innovative portable oropharyngeal suction devices, endotracheal tubes, and alternatives to the laryngoscope.
Alberto Chan, MBA
Interim CEO
He has 15 years of experience in the healthcare space on Venture Capital, Fortune 500 and startups. Raised 7 digits and is currently an LP on HealthTech fund. Currently he serves as EIR for the university of Texas in San Antonio, interim CEO for Emergencemed and as a healthcare consultant for health plans to improve their outcomes by adopting newly approved healthcare technologies.
Andrea Valero, BS ChE
Operations Lead
Senior Chemical Engineering student who serves the company as an administrative assistant and operations specialist. Has several years of experience helping startups succeed.
Bach Dao, BS BME
Operations Lead
Project Lead, holds a BS in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Delaware with experience in software and hardware development, clinical engineering, research, and development. He has led cross-functional teams for many DoD medical research and prototyping contracts.
Robert S. Griffin, JD
Legal Counselor
In House Counsel and Chief Technological and Developmental Officer for Griffin, Cain & Herbig, Attorneys at Law, PLLC. As a practicing Texas attorney in start-ups, small businesses, estate, and probate he continues to serve his clients, such as EmergenceMed to maximize their potential and minimize their risk.
